- Jeff Frederick, Former RPV Chairman
Recently I had a talk with Former RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick on his views on politics and his thoughts on what happened leading up to his removal as Chairman. What he told me was really interesting.
Red NoVa: Why do you think the GOP lost statewide races in 05, 06, and 07?
Jeff Frederick: One of the big reasons is that we failed to do what we said we were going to do. We talked about things that no one cared about. In fact, in a lot of cases, we did the exact opposite of what we said we were going to do. People were very frustrated. People look for leaders to do the right thing…
RN: Is Virginia a “blue” state?
JF: No. The color analogies are a but over rated. I think the party labels are over rated as well. A big group of people in Virginia do not vote just on the party label…
Mr. Fredrick even warned Republicans of being too excited for their chances in the Fall. I asked him about the close races for Pat Herrity and John Cook, as well as the Alexandria City Council elections.
JF: Its fair to say that the Democrats were just burned out [of energy and money]. I wouldn’t expect the same results in November. This fall will still be very tough for anyone with an “R” next to their name.
In the next half of our talk, we got into the recent fight he had with the RPV over his title as Chairman. I asked him how he responded to them, and if he thought any other motives were present.
They (The charges) were bogus. They were really laughable. They just couldn’t put “We Don’t like Jeff” in them. The motive had nothing to do with what was listed.
I ran for Chairman at the convention…I ran against the status quo and won. From the minute I took office, people were trying to find ways to get rid of me.
I then asked him about the infamous “twitter incident”
The blogs made a big deal about it. But the blogs and MSNBC were uninformed. If you look at the chain of events that day, all of the stuff had already happened before I ‘tweeted” about it. Many people in Richmond had no idea this was even going on.
RN: What will be your role this Fall in the elections, and in VA politics in the future?
JF: I’m taking a back seat and pursuing other activities. [However], I’ve pledged to be helpful. I’m doing a fundraiser in July…that’s all I’m planning on doing. Aside from being a member of the House of Delegates, I’m out.
RN: What about rumors of you running for Chairman at a later date, or even being a candidate for Governor?
JF: If I was going to run for Chairman, I would have done so at the convention. Honestly, these rumors have no basis in fact. I’m not running for Chairman, and definitely not any elected office this year. I’m taking a break…
Mr. Frederick even went on to say that his removal as Chairman will have a negative impact in the Fall. Interesting stuff..Feel free to comment.

Jeff Frederick is highly respected by citizens from both sides of the political aisle.
The way the RPV insiders turned against Jeff Frederick demonstrated to everyone just how low the Party had sunk. No wonder the Republicans find it increasingly difficult to attract young men of character to run under their tainted banner.
Jeff ran for Chairman on the premise that he would offer a more fair and open nomination process. It quickly became clear that one element of the Republican leadership really hated the idea of having their ability to manipulate the nomination process, curtailed.
After eight years of the Bush regime and the corrupt behavior of Virginia’s Republican Party, our citizens would be foolish to trust the Republicans to lead the Commonwealth, or our nations government, ever again.
The citizens who want a government that obeys the Constitution, and that defends our liberty, need a new party to emerge and replace the old, corrupt Republican Party. The GOP should go he way of the Whig Party. Conservatives and Libertarians need to unite behind a new party that will lead with a positive vision for our future.

Instead of forming a new party, we conservatives and libertarians need to lead the fight against the phony inside-the-beltway conservatives in Washington and the phony conservatives in Richmond.
