NBC’s Chuck Todd didn’t like President Donald Trump’s press conference yesterday. Todd’s tweets were hilarious. First he sends out this one via his personal victim card, “This not a laughing matter. I’m sorry, delegitimizing the press is unAmerican.”
Then a little later more of the victim card with this one; “Press bashing may feel good to folks but when it’s done by people in power, it’s corrosive. Take off your partisan hats for a second.”
Victimhood is the rallying cry of the left these days and Todd sings it well here. His complaint is especially amusing coming from someone who buys into the narrative of delegitimizing Trump’s presidency. Never mind criticize, the press is supposed to be critical of the government, but right now there is an organized movement on the left to delegitimize this presidency. Such an idea from national news outlets is irresponsible behavior that needs to be called out for the fake news that it is. Trump won. To quote Joe Biden, “it is over.”
But I just love that second tweet. In it Todd says being a bully may feel good, except when you’re the one being bullied. Yeah, no shit, Chuck. And this is not about partisanship on our side. The blinding partisanship in any of this mess comes from you, your news organization and your Sunday morning show. You write your narrative ahead of time, then demand that those who are on a different side subscribe to your spun-up recount before offering the exact quote you demand to have. That ain’t journalism young man.
