Not sure who “won” the debate Thursday night. With the economy, the debt, and the value of the dollar being such important issues right now, I am leaning toward a businessman as the best choice for our nation’s next chief executive. This means I am looking at Mitt Romney and Herman Cain with great interest. They both did just ok. Herm had a great line when he said at the end of the night “send a business problem-solver to Washington.” That’s what we need and that’s what he is.

Too bad Byron York chose to add himself to the record books when he asked Michele Bachmann possibly the worst question in debate history. No need to repeat such filth, just wanted to mention how gracefully my girl handled the question, she did very well. Newt also did well. Rick Santorum needs to drop out, he is just awful. And Ron Paul was vintage Ron Paul, he’ll never adjust his message and I while I usually disagree with him I always respect him for his conviction.

The line of the night went to John Huntsman when he said, “we need to end the EPA’s reign of terror.” The best part about this line is when it came up. The question was not about a specific environmental policy, it came instead from a question about the economy and job growth. Huntsman mentioned this to point out how crippling the EPA’s regulatory reach is on businesses. This is an important topic which I have not heard the candidates discuss much. I am looking forward to seeing more from the candidates on this specific topic. And Huntsman is a businessman himself, so I am looking forward to seeing more from him as well.
