The Ron Paul Ground Game
on February 21st, 2012 at 11:45 AMWatch out Mitt Romney, the Ron Paul ground game is running full speed in Virginia. Check out this immaculate construction of signage located in the median of Rolling Road between Burke Road and West Springfield High School.

Okay, they won’t win any awards for their carpentry skills. But if I wanted to see Ron Paul take this primary I’d want as many enthusiastic volunteers out hanging cockeyed signs as I could get. And if I wanted to see Mitt R-money win the primary I’d wish I had the wildly enthusiastic volunteers that Paul has.
My guess is that the number of voters who see that poorly constructed sign and conclude they shouldn’t vote for Paul because of it would be exactly zero. Hell, you could hang the darned things upside down and it wouldn’t alter the effect, positive or negative, one bit.
When we first learned that only two names would appear on the Virginia ballot it sure looked like a major break for Romney. Today, not so much. What you need to be praying for is that all those Santorum and Gingrich folks just fail to vote in the Virginia primary. Significant numbers of them may show up and vote for Paul.
Those enthusiastic Paul supporters with the lousy carpentry skills may play a big role in dragging those supporters of other candidates to the polls to vote for their hero. And they may do that very well. Then they, and their lack of sign hanging skills won’t seem so funny.
Ain’t democracy grand?
Zip ties without anchor points probably won’t survive too long. At least you know Ron Paul is attracting people new to politics. My question is, will Ron Paul get a deal for Treasury Secretary or Fed Chairman if he doesn’t win the nomination. Will we see integrated Romney-Paul-’Whoever is the VP’ signs?
