As you all know, both Cuccinelli and Brownlee released statements regarding how the NRA likes them.

In the latest Dave Foster email, I got a “From the Desk of Tom Davis” email.

Here’s a portion of the email

My friend, Dave Foster is running for the Republican nomination for Attorney General this year. I am supporting Dave because has the electability, legal qualifications, and common sense conservative solutions we need to win this November. The nominee will be elected, at the Republican state convention, on May 30th.

The delegates to the convention have already been selected and, now, Dave needs to communicate his message to them in order to win the nomination. I am writing to ask you to help Dave deliver that message by contributing to his campaign. Whether you can give $100, $1,000, or any other amount, I would be most appreciative for your support of Dave.

Our nominee will face Steve Shannon, a Fairfax County member of the Virginia House of Delegates who is stockpiling money to take on our party’s choice for Attorney General. To win, we need a candidate who can go toe to toe with the Democrats in Northern Virginia. That candidate is Dave Foster.

Dave brings a strong history of electability to our ticket. Dave served two terms on the Arlington County School Board, including twice as chairman, winning his re-election bid with 62 percent of the vote! In past statewide elections in Arlington, Republicans have averaged only 28 percent of the vote. The contrast is amazing.

As much as I’ve said that I like and respect Mr. Foster, this move seems a little desperate,  seeing as the other two AG candidates just mentioned the support of the NRA. I’m not sure how much of an influence that Tom Davis has on the RPV. Seeing as he was basically told no when he wanted to run for Senate, I’d say none.

It will be interesting to see what other names get dropped for the other candidates leading up to the convention.
